Transport Planner – Milton Keynes
Salary £36K – £38K
Monday to Friday – 1pm to 11pm

JOB PURPOSE
The role of the Transport Planner is to produce daily transport plans for the depot. The transport planner will also be responsible for amending the transport plans through direct communication with the clients and Depot transport teams. The planner will also be expected to formulate the daily trunk schedule and communicate it to the relevant departments within the organisation. Live and retrospective report generation and KPI development will be key to understanding operational progress. The position holder will also aid in the development of the operational peak plans.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create the Depot transport plans
- Share the future transport plans with the remaining planning team to allow planning
- Create the peak planning collection requirements
- Confirm the trailer requirements at clients
- Run business reports when required
- Produce reports on clients and transport performance
- Lead operational planning between the hubs through constant communication
- Obtain agreement with the hubs regarding processing
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- FLT Licence
- Experience of Ms Office
- Confident and efficient approach to planning
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and maintain clear focus upon priorities
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Commercial awareness
- Determined nature to continuously improve the current operations
- Flexible working approach and be adaptable
- First class organisational skills
- Ability to handle multiple client collection requests and channel the communication correctly
- Understanding of supply chain and related processes
