A well-established and respected engineering business based in West Bromwich is currently seeking a skilled Workshop Engineer with experience working on AC/DC electric motors. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and growing workshop environment offering long-term stability and development.

The Role

As a Workshop Engineer, you will be responsible for the service, repair, and overhaul of AC/DC motors and associated equipment. This is a hands-on role requiring strong fault-finding skills and a solid mechanical and electrical background.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, repair, and rewind AC/DC electric motors
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults effectively
  • Strip, inspect, and rebuild motors and rotating equipment
  • Carry out testing to ensure performance and reliability
  • Work from engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications
  • Maintain accurate job records and ensure high-quality standards
  • Adhere to workshop health & safety procedures

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with AC/DC motors in a workshop environment
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge
  • Experience with motor rewinding (desirable but not essential)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and quality-focused
