A two-form entry primary school in Chesham is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and reflective Year 1 Class Teacher to join its dedicated team on a permanent basis from September 2026.

Year 1 Class Teacher Permanent Position
Location: Chesham, Buckinghamshire
Salary: MPS/UPS
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
The successful candidate will join a strong Key Stage 1 team, working alongside a parallel Year 1 teacher in a two-form entry structure. This provides excellent opportunities for shared planning, moderation, and collaborative teaching.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a secure understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, particularly in Year 1, including the Phonics Screening Check
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and disadvantaged pupils
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to early reading, phonics, and language development
- Use assessment effectively to inform teaching and support pupil progress
- Set high expectations for behaviour, attainment, and presentation
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
- Show a commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities and events
The school is particularly interested in candidates who:
- Have experience teaching in Year 1 or across Key Stage 1
- Are confident delivering phonics (e.g. Little Wandle or similar schemes)
- Have a strong understanding of early reading and writing development
- Bring energy, creativity, and a passion for primary education
