Part-Time Year 1 Class Teacher (Maternity Cover)
Location: Glossop
Start Date: October 2026
Contract: Maternity Cover (likely until end of academic year or earlier, depending on postholder's return)
Working Pattern: 3 days per week (Wednesday-Friday)
A highly regarded primary school in Glossop is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Year 1 Class Teacher to join its committed team from October 2026. This is a part-time maternity cover role, offering an excellent opportunity to work within a warm, supportive and high-performing school environment. The role will pay MPS 1-6 depending on your experience and will accept interest from ECT's as well as experienced practitioners.

The Role
The successful candidate will:
- Be responsible for a Year 1 class, working Wednesday to Friday each week
- Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching that supports strong pupil outcomes
- Contribute to a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure consistency and continuity in learning

The ideal candidate will have recent and relevant experience teaching in Year 1 with a strong understanding of Key Stage 1 curriculum expectations, including early reading and phonics. Applicants can be ECT's or experienced practictioners but must be confident delivering the Little Wandle Phonics programme (the school is proud to be a Little Wandle champion). Maths is structures using bespoke mapping overviews and foundation subjects are creative, engaging purposeful and implement crosscrricular links.
The school has high expectations of pupils' achievement and behaviour and as a result achieves well academically and has an excellent reputation in the local area.
