About the Role:

Reed Education is proud to be working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Crewe to recruit a committed Teaching Assistant. This role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a temporary basis with potential go permanent.

  • Deliver individualised support to a Year 5 pupil with SEN needs, ensuring they are fully engaged in classroom activities.
  • Implement strategies to support academic progress, emotional regulation, and social development.
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the child’s specific needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to follow the child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to staff and parents.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience supporting children with SEN, ideally on a 1:1 basis.
  • Strong understanding of strategies for supporting pupils with additional needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain patient, calm, and proactive in challenging situations.
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
