Year 6 Teaching Assistant – Preston Full Time | September Start

REED / Lancashire Teaching Agency (LTA) are currently recruiting for a full-time Experienced Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Preston from September.

This is a long-term position for the full academic year, working Monday to Friday, supporting within a Year 6 classroom.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils during this important stage of their primary education, helping them prepare for SATs and transition into secondary school. This is a general classroom support role; however, the school is looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant with strong behaviour management skills and a good understanding of the Year 6 curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning within a Year 6 classroom
  • Work with small groups and individual pupils to raise attainment
  • Assist pupils in preparing for end-of-year assessments and SATs
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
  • Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within KS2
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Year 6 curriculum
  • Excellent behaviour management skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A proactive and confident approach to classroom support
